McDaniel College

You will complete core courses in the first three years of the program. These core courses include field experience placements in the appropriate content/grade level based on the program.

The final year of the program includes methods courses as well as a final, semester-long student placement.

With the exception of the initial course (EDU 1141 Teaching and Learning in a Diverse Society), you will have in-person experiences in every course with an EDU prefix.

During the Junior Year, all students complete a 15-day full-time internship in a multicultural school setting with more than 40% of students who come from distinct backgrounds.

You will receive mentoring and coaching in each in-person experience as well as during the final internship. An emphasis is placed on finding mentor teachers as mentors who are National Board Certified.

The programs are nationally accredited, and faculty engage in annual self-study, using program data and participant feedback to continually improve courses and the candidate experience. Program advisory councils meet biannually to review data and program requirements and provide feedback for program improvement.
