St. Mary’s College of Maryland is the nation’s first standalone public honors college, designated by the Maryland Legislature in 1992. An honors education combines challenging coursework with a hands-on learning experience where you build close relationships with faculty who support and guide you. This approach complements the university’s liberal arts education, where you learn to look at problems from different perspectives, areas of study and approaches.
